The Federal TRIO Programs (TRIO) are outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Funded by grants from the U.S. Department of Education, these programs provide advising, academic instruction, career exploration and other support services in order to assist students in achieving their educational goals and obtaining a college degree.

Nationally, TRIO includes eight different programs targeted to serve and assist low-income individuals, potential first-generation college students, and individuals with high academic need to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-baccalaureate programs.

Normandale offers assistance through two pre-college TRIO programs: Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search.
